Motorbike ride to the highest point
On the back of a moto-taxi, we ride up to the highest point of the community — the way locals get around: fast and full of adrenaline.
Rio de Janeiro · Rocinha
The Rio few travelers see: a guided tour through Rocinha with Zé, a local guide who lives there. No mass-market route.
Tourism in Rocinha
On the back of a moto-taxi, we ride up to the highest point of the community — the way locals get around: fast and full of adrenaline.
From up there, Rio opens up: the sea, the hills and the South Zone in a single frame. An incredible view, at the most beautiful spot of the tour.
The famous Bela Vista deck, one of the community's postcard spots — the perfect stop for the best photos of the tour.
We walk through the alleys discovering stories, local businesses and the rhythm of "the favela that never sleeps". The Rio de Janeiro beyond the obvious.
Where we meet
We arrange everything on WhatsApp and I meet you at the metro station. From there we head up together to start the tour.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. You're guided by Zé, a local resident who knows every alley and the people in the community. The tour follows planned routes, in small groups and at the right time of day. You're with someone who actually lives here the whole time — it's how travelers from all over have already discovered Rocinha at ease.
It's the heart of the tour. Rocinha isn't a backdrop — it's home to thousands of families. The route is built on respect, supports local businesses and culture and brings income into the community itself. Zé shows you Rocinha through the voice of someone who lives there — no poverty spectacle, just pride and truth.
Rocinha is full of hills and stairs, but the pace is relaxed and the main climb is done by moto-taxi (included). It works at an easy walking pace, with stops for photos and rest. The tour lasts about 2 to 3 hours on average. If you have any limitation, just let us know on WhatsApp and we adapt.
Everything is on WhatsApp, straight with Zé. You pick the day, agree on a time and clear up any questions beforehand. No booking platform or upfront card needed — it's a simple chat and your tour is confirmed right away.
Payment is arranged directly with the guide, with no middleman. We accept cash and Pix (Brazil's instant transfer), and the price is per person, already covering everything included in the package. You sort out these details with Zé on WhatsApp before the tour.
We welcome travelers from all over. WhatsApp support is in Portuguese, English and Spanish, and we go over every detail before the tour so everything is clear. On the day, communication flows easily.
You can, and Zé helps capture the best moments — photos and videos are included in the tour. We just ask for common sense when photographing residents: Rocinha is their home. The guide shows you where and how to take pictures respectfully along the way.
Bring light clothes, comfortable sneakers, sunscreen, water and a little cash for the local shops if you'd like. If it rains heavily, we simply reschedule — just arrange a new day on WhatsApp.
